Culture & Tradition
The Neißeland has a lot to offer culturally. A visit to the castles, parks and gardens is a must. In addition to the UNESCO World Heritage Muskauer Park/Park Mużakowski, the rhododendron park in Kromlau with the mystical Rakotz Bridge is a real highlight.
Görlitz, with almost 4,000 Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Art Nouveau monuments, is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. In Niesky, almost 100 wooden buildings from Christoph & Unmack AG are reminiscent of the time of the first industrially prefabricated houses. In the Erlichthof in Rietschen you can walk through a shotwood house settlement and admire the typical architecture of this region. Museums like the Markersdorf Village Museum or the Weißwasser Glass Museum tell exciting stories.
Also experience the lively customs of the Sorbs: from the bird wedding to the Zampern to artistically decorated Easter eggs and traditional folk music with Sorbian bagpipes and three-string violin.
