The town's history is closely linked to the Via Regia, the medieval trade and military route from Kyiv to Santiago de Compostela. The town was first documented in 1280. At the beginning of the 13th century, the Bohemian kings systematically founded urban settlements along this important road, and Reichenbach was one of them.

Welcome to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the easternmost small town on the Neisse River! Since 1268, this charming town has captivated visitors with its vibrant history. The town was long shaped by the Martin family, as evidenced by the Martinshof and the Martin-Ulbrich-Haus. Until 1945, Rothenburg was the district seat; afterwards, this was transferred to Niesky.
